THE MALTA HEART FOUNDATION DONATES EMERGENCY DEFIBRILLATOR TO THE M.O.C
- The Malta Heart Foundation has donated an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to the Maltese Olympic Committee for use at the Functional Diagnostic Laboratory at the Tal-Qroqq Complex. The presentation was made by Dr Lyndon Hadley-Coates Chairman of the Foundation to the President of the Maltese Olympic Committee Julian Pace Bonello.
The AED is an essential piece of equipment when testing athletes to their limit. It is used in cases of collapse due to cardiac arrest. It is also extremely easy to use and although there are trained personnel, in an emergency, practically anyone can use the device by following the instructions offered by the machine.
It is the policy of the Heart Foundation to offer AEDs for installation in other critical areas including sporting arenas. The Heart Foundation would like to create an awareness of the importance of having such devices in public areas.
Mr Pace Bonello thanked the Malta Heart Foundation for their generous donation which will further enhance the Laboratory facilities which are for the benefit of Malta’s elite athletes.
