Malta Team places third in Leipzig Karate Open 2018

18 athletes representing the Malta Karate Federation aged between 7 and 17 years participated in Leipzig Open Championships which were held on the 6th May 2018 in Leipzig Germany.

Athletes from La Salle Karate Club and Zebbug Karate Club were among the 600 athletes who took part in both Kata and Kumite landing 9 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze, placing Malta in 3rd place out of 18 countries.  National Kata Coach Joe Tanti and National Kumite Coaches Josef Antonelli and Joseph Mizzi accompanied the athletes.

“This result gives us motivation to keep working together as a team maintaining our focus in reaching higher technical levels in Karate. We would like to thank Sportmalta and MOC for their constant support.”  This was the comment of Sensei Jesmond Schembri, Technical Director of Malta Karate Federation.

Atleti minn La Salle Karate Club u Zebbug Karate Club, li kienu fost is-600 atleta li hadu sehem kemm fil-Kata kif ukoll fil-Kumite fejn kisbu 9 l’ewwel post, 7 it-tieni u 5 it-tielet u b’hekk poggew lil Malta fit-tielet post fost 18 il-pajjiz.  Il-kowc nazzjonali tal-Kata Sensei Joe Tanti,  il-kowcis nazzjonali tal-Kumite Sensei Josef Antonelli u Sensei Joseph Mizzi akkompannjaw lill-atleti.
