33 athletes from the Malta Karate Federation participated in the 4th edition of The Small States of Europe Karate Championships which were held in Andorra on Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October 2017.
250 athletes from Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco and San Marino participated in this event. Success for Malta Team who placed 1st in the Individual Kata Categories, 2nd in Individual Kumite, 3rd in Team Kata and 4th in Team Kumite obtaining an overall 3rd place winning 11 Gold, 11 Silver and 12 Bronze.

Malta Team was accompanied by Ms Audrey Zammit as Head of Delegation, Technical Director Sensei James, Technical Co-ordinator Sensei Jesmond Zammit,  National Coaches Kata Sensei Joe Tanti and Sensei Michelle Vella, National Coaches Kumite Sensei Josef Antonelli and Sensei Joseph Mizzi.

MKF Chief Referee Sensei Anthony Zammit 6th Dan and Sensei Frank Vella formed part of referees panel for these championships.

‘It is encouraging to see this consistency in results achieved abroad by MKF.  We look forward to our next event, where we will host Maestro Santo Torre 8th Dan during our training seminar on Friday 6th to Sunday 8th October as part of our ongoing training program.’ These were the comments of MKF Technical Director Sensei James Galea.
