Team Malta composed of Nicholas Beck, Andy Borg, Ruud Critien and JJ Micallef are on their way to the Pravets Golf Club, just outside Sofia in Bulgaria, to participate in the third edition of this tournament organised by the European Golf Association.

In one way or another, all the four players have experienced the Pravets Golf Course – the venue of the first edition of the ETSC that was held in 2015 and where Malta achieved fifth place. The players’ intentions this year are clear and pre-determined. They return to Bulgaria to defend and better their bronze position achieved in last year’s tournament that was held in Hungary.

In their way stand twelve other emerging golf countries: Armenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Macedonia, Turkey and Ukraine.

After a practice round on Tuesday, the tournament starts off on Wednesday with an individual stroke play qualifier. The aggregate of three best scores out of four will determine the team’s position for the next rounds. The next three days sees the teams battling each other in match play knockout format which will determine the overall winner.

Malta’s participation in this tournament is through the kind sponsorship of SportMalta as well as Nike Golf (playing kit) and Bortex Fine Tailoring (official uniform).
