GSSE2023 Essay and Poetry Writing Competition Launched

The Maltese Olympic Committee and the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth Research and Innovation announced the launch of an Essay and Poetry Writing Competition.

Submissions, which can be sent in English or Maltese should feature one of the six chosen theme which include Competition in Sport, Health in Sport, Enjoyment in Sport, Malta at the Olympic Games, The Games of the Small States of Europe and/or The History of Maltese Sport.  There will be no word limit for such entries.

Digital format submissions from Primary (Year 5 and 6 only), Middle (Year 7 and 8), Secondary (Year 9, 10 and 11) are to be sent to Ms. Miriam Aquilina ([email protected]) by not later than Friday 20th January 2023. Late submissions will not be considered.

A Certificate of Publication will be presented to all participants, whilst the top 50 submissions will be included in a commemorative bilingual educational publication, whilst authors of the top three submissions will receive a package of GSSE Malta 2023 merchandise.

“This is a great opportunity for our students to show their creativity and become more engaged with the excitement that is building up into the run up of the 2023 Games, taking place in Malta” commented Kevin Azzopardi, Secretary General, Maltese Olympic Committee.

The Games of the Small States of Europe will be hosted for the third time following the successful editions hosted in 1993 and 2003.
