The Voluntary Organisations (Amendment) Act, 2018 introduced “consequential and other amendments to the Civil Code and to the Second Schedule to the Civil Code, the Public Collections Act, the Notarial Profession and Notarial Archives Act, the Arbitration Act, the Companies Act and the Public Registry Act”
Among other requirements, the amendments stipulate that, despite being registered with both SportMalta and the Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC), all National Sports Organisations were obliged to register with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations. This registration was to be done within 90 days from 6th November 2018, the date legislation was approved, and fines would be due after this period.
In view of the queries raised during the last MOC Council Meeting, an information session was held on Friday 25th January 2019 at the Headquarters of the Maltese Olympic Committee. Mr Mauro Pace Parascandalo, Executive Director of the Malta Council of the Voluntary Sector, gave an informative presentation and answered questions raised by those present in relation to the registration process, legal personality, accounts formats, access to MCVS funding opportunities, and other areas of concern.
