Fi tmiem il-ġimgħa li għaddiet ġie organiżżat turnament internazzjonali ġewwa il-Belġju.   Il-

Gran Prix tal-Belġju ġie organiżżat mil-klabb Belġjan ‘Lion’s Eugies’ taħt l-awspici tal-Federazjoni internazjonali ta’ Table Football FISTF.

Erba’ plejers maltin iparteċipaw.  Fil-kompetizzjoni individwali fil-kategorija Open ħadu sehem Derek Conti, Mario Camilleri u Massimo Cremona.  Dawn kollha wasslu sal-kwarti tal-finali.  Din il-kategorija intrebħet mit-taljan Saverio Bari.

Fil-kategorija ta’ taħt id-dsatax-il sena ħa sehem Jurgen Balzan li kellu prestazjoni tajba li waslietu sal-finali.  Sfortunatament tilef din il-finali b’penalty waqt is-sudden death, bl-iskor 3-2.  Ir-rebbieħ kien il-Belġjan Maxime Rairoux.

Fil-kategorija tat-timijiet ħa sehem it-tim ta’ Valletta Subbuteo Club li kien kompost minn Derek Conti, Mario Camilleri, il-Belġjan Pascal Scheen u debutaw għall-ewwel darba mat-tim il-franċiż Axel Donval u Jurgen Balzan.  It-Tim wasal sal-kwarti tal-finali fejn inqalgħa kontra it-tim Belġjan Charleroi.  It-tim rebbieħ kien Rocheforte TS.


JURGEN BALZAN FINALIST IN THE GRAND PRIX OF BELGIUM 2018

The FISTF Grand Prix of Belgium was organised last weekend by ‘Lion’s Eugies’.  Four Maltese players participated in this tournament.

In the Individual Open category Derek Conti, Mario Camilleri and Massimo Cremona made it to the quarter final.

In the Under 19 Category Jurgen Balzan was finalist.  He played against the Belgian player Maxime Rairoux and unfortunately lost by a penalty in the sudden death.  The score was 3-2.

Valletta Subbuteo Club participated in the team event. The team was composed of Derek Conti, Mario Camilleri, the Belgian player Pascal Scheen and the French player Axel Donval and Jurgen Balzan had their debut tournament.  The team made it to the quarter final, losing against the Belgian Team Charleroi.  The winning team was the Belgian team Rocheforte TS
