Malta Air Rifle & Pistol Club Competition

On Saturday 10 February, the Malta Air Rifle & Pistol Shooting Club held its nineth competition of the season at the Larry Vella Hall indoor range in Bidnija.

Following a qualifing competition of 60 shots the standings from 600 points of the first three shooters were as follows:

  1. Eleanor Bezzina                       574 points
  2. Stephen Vassallo                    544 points
  3. Raymond Cacciottolo            543 points


In the final round, shooters had to shoot a maximum of 24 shots.  Following her personal best in the qualification, Eleanor confirmed her strong performance and won the ‘mixed’ Air Pistol event with a total of 237.0 points.  Raymond Cacciottolo managed to overcome Stephen Vassallo and placed in second place with a total of 221.3.  Stephen Vassallo followed in third place with a score of 203.8.

In the Air Rifle event Alison Formosa scored a total of 569.3 from 654 points.


Grand Prix of France 2018

The pistol shooter Eleanor Bezzina, just returned from the Grand Prix of France, held in Fleury les Aubrais.  She managed to secure her place with the top eight shooters for the final round, after a qualifying score of 565 from 600 points.  Eleanor’s start in the final was very competitive were she was in second place,  though a bad shot left her with no chances for the podium and placed fifth.

Eleanor joined the Luxembourgish shooter Marco Nunes and competed in the Air Pistol 10m Mixed Team event.  She scored a total of 379 whilst Marco scored 370 from 400points each and they managed to place seventh from a total of 27 teams.

Competing in this Grand Prix was possible thanks to the Maltese Olympic Committee.
