Malta Karate Federation Athlete Places 5th in European Karate Championships

Thyis Antonelli, the 16-year-old National Athlete, gave a remarkable performance at the European Karate Championships held in Larnaca Cyprus last weekend.  Accompanied by MKF National Kumite Coach Josef Antonelli, Thyis competed in Kumite Cadets Female +61Kg category on Friday 4th, beating Slovakian Chrastinova Petra, Polish Jedrzejewska Amelia and Turkish Kurdoglu Melisa whilst losing to Ukranian Bulay Dariia.  Thyis qualified for Bronze Final on Sunday 5th losing to Hungarian Kopfer Anna.

With 1139 athletes from 48 nations, EKF Cadet, Junior and U21 European Karate Championships are both a milestone for promising athletes and a showcase of the highest technical level in the sport of Karate.  ‘Her performance is a testament to the strength and skill of Maltese karate athletes, and the collaboration and dedication of the technical team behind the athletes.  Thyis should be commended for her hard work and dedication.
