Maltese Olympic Academy developing several educational initiatives

The first meeting of the Maltese Olympic Academy (MOA) for this scholastic year was recently held under the helm of Maltese Olympic Committee Director responsible for the Academy, David Azzopardi.

The Maltese Olympic Academy is the educational arm of the Maltese Olympic Committee and its aims include raising awareness related to Olympism among the community, establishing educational programmes in collaboration with schools as well as nominating local representatives to participate in the various events organised by the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece.

Among the first initiatives taken by the MOA are a number of Olympic Education Workshops that are being organised for Year 5 learners at the University Sports Complex as well as the premises of the Maltese Olympic Committee.

The Olympic Education Workshops forms part of several initiatives being planned ahead of the hosting of the Games of the Small States of Europe in Malta next May.

The Maltese Olympic Academy is led by MOC Finance Director David Azzopardi, and is composed of Mattea Saliba, Vanessa Portanier Mifsud (secretary), Charlene Attard, Kevin Azzopardi, David Guerhing, Daniel Tanti,  Jesmar Frendo and Charles Camenzuli
