Denise Busuttil shares her experience in Olympia, made possible through the Maltese Olympic Committee.
The Sessions for Young Participants with the International Olympic Academy was an experience I will truly never forget. I can easily say it is a highlight in my life to represent Malta in such a wonderful experience!
During these 2 weeks, I had the opportunity to meet hundreds of people from all over the world. I got to learn about all the works and movements these individuals were working on.
These 2 weeks consisted of lectures, workshops, dance, art and poetry classes, beach days, sports tournaments, sunrises and sightseeing. There was not a day where you can get bored or have nothing to do!
The lectures taught were on current situations, and issues that were going on.
During the workshops, we then discussed the lectures and produced our own presentations as a group – which we then presented to all participants!
The lecture which really stuck out for me, and I think also for other participants is the one presented by Dr Gelly Aroni (GRE) “Sport and an active society without walls. Social inclusion of refugees through sport and physical activity” The lecture made an impact on me and showed how powerful sport can be.
We also got to learn about the Olympic experience from directly from the Olympians themselves!
