Francesca Curmi, following on from her impressive display last week which saw her come through winning the ITF Junior Grade 2 Tournament, returns this week to the ITF Women’s Circuit Tournament being played in Hammamet, Tunis, joining up with Maltese tennis star Elaine Genovese in the female doubles.

The Maltese duo played the quarter-finals today against third seeds Sandra Samir and Cindy Burger, the latter having a solid Career High Singles Ranking of (134). Genovese and Curmi gave a spectacular performance, with Curmi and Genovese winning comfortably 6-2, 6-4.

Genovese who has enjoyed a lot of success in the past with notable highlights and Curmi who is Malta’s rising star have shown to be strong contenders on Court, both of whom are current professional players trained at Asciak Tennis Academy under the direction of coach Matthew Asciak.

Looking ahead, the girls now await to play their semi-finals scheduled for today, Friday 9th February against the Serbian Natalija Kostic and Jelena Simic from Bosnia.
